Disney Trip 2012-- Day One!

We drove to Disney World in Orlando,FL on Saturday, October 6th. It took us around nine hours and that was with 4 small stops to get out and stretch our legs and eat and so on. We had arranged to stay somewhere through Priceline but when we got there they wanted a $250 deposit.... which was unreal to us so we went back out to the main road that Disney is off of and found a hotel for $80! Sold! The next morning we got up and found Target Superstore to buy groceries for the week.

Yes, we are the odd people who take food into Disney World. And did it multiple times. For our family,we average $50 a meal and that was even for breakfast! So we tried to eat as much as we could in our room. We even made dinner one night in our room one night!

We stayed at the Art of Animation resort. It is the newest resort on WDW property. It has 4 main sections, Lion King, Finding Nemo, Cars, and the Little Mermaid. Bet you can't guess where we stayed!?!? That's right ! Cars!! My boys LOVED getting to see the characters in real life!

The Cars section actually had every character from Cars (except Lizzie and Red and Stanley!). Every morning as we would leave to go the parks Cole would say Good Morning to each and every character. It was so cute! Even though we paid more to be at AoA because we had a family suite, we are so happy we did stay here because of Cole's love of Cars!

We didn't go into the parks but got settled into our room, had dinner, and then went to Downtown Disney. After Downtown Disney, we made our way to the Boardwalk Resort *WDW property-so we could ride the bus system the entire time-- took about an hour so we learned our lesson about how long the bus system can take the first night :)*.

To finish our first day we had THE KITCHEN SINK at Beaches and Cream. A big deal is made when you order this dessert! There are special lights that come on and flashing light come on as well! It was fun to order!

I don't think pictures just truly justify the size of this dessert. We couldn't even finish it! There are multiple scoops of chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, and coffee ice cream. They finish it with an entire can of whipped cream! (which cameron and mom do not like whipped cream, so we asked for it on the side!)

So there is Day One!! I hopefully will get the rest of the trip up this week!!

We're staying in the same hotel--just in the Little Mermaid part!
