We are a pizza loving household (especially when Cameron is around!). We had him over the weekend and I decided to make homemade pizza for dinner. I made homemade pizza dough and then this pizza sauce. At first, Cameron didn't want to try the pizza because it was homemade but Mr. Picky did! and he liked it!
This pizza sauce is seriously as easy as opening up a jar of pizza sauce but has much more flavor! It's nice to have a little bit more kick on the same old boring pizza sometimes!
Homemade Pizza Sauce
recipe adapted from this recipe at Bake at 350 Goes Savory
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 tbsp. garlic, minced1 (15 oz.) can crushed tomatoes, drained
1 small can tomato paste
1/2 cup water
pinch crushed red pepper flakes
1/4 tsp dried basil
1/2 tsp dried oregano
kosher salt
freshly ground black pepper
Heat olive oil in a sauce pan over medium heat. Once heated, add garlic and allow to become fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add in crushed tomatoes, paste, water, and spices. Stir until bubbling. Add in salt and pepper to taste. Serve on top of pizza dough of your choice!
